The estimated cost, over 10 years, of some of the new provisions added to the tax deal taking shape in Washington:
_ Tax credit for oil refiners who blend ethanol with gasoline, tariff on imported ethanol, other ethanol tax credits, $4.8 billion
_ Grants to reimburse developers of renewable energy, such as wind and solar, $3 billion
_ Incentives for biodiesel fuel production, $2 billion
_ Gulf Coast tax incentive programs enacted after Hurricane Katrina, allowing states to issue tax-free bonds, offer enhanced tax depreciation for investments, $792 million
_ Tax credit for construction of energy efficient homes, $138 million
_ Tax breaks for commuters who use mass transit, $136 million"
